Constructibility of Arctic Offshore Structures

by Ben C. Gerwick, Jr., Univ of California, Berkeley, Berkeley, CA, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Civil Engineering in the Arctic Offshore

Abstract:

The costs of structures designed for Arctic Offshore Drilling and Production Platforms have reached extreme levels. A major component of the costs of such structures is their constructibility. Constructibility involves the conceptual design, the planning, the selection of facilities and methods and stages, and the organization and supervision of the work. It encompasses both the structure and the facilities to be installed on or inside it. Constructibility also extends to the delivery, deployment, installation and relocation.
