Abstract:
A Central Office (CO) is where calls are processed. In the complex hierarchy of the PSN, there are many other facilities to which this definition applies; they are Digital Loop Carrier (DLC), Community Dial Office (CDO) and Control Environment Vault (CEV). This section is intended to cover all equipment and supporting facilities that may be housed in a CO and other call processing facilities. Some COs may not have all the equipment discussed.
