Abstract:

This chapter provides experienced-based recommendations on how to achieve success with permeable pavements. This information is based on an informational survey completed by designers, contractors, owners, developers, and manufacturers working with various permeable pavements systems (EWRI 2010). The four key areas presented are planning and site selection, design, construction, and operations and maintenance. Many of the concerns identified in this chapter have been mentioned in earlier chapters with the specifics for the individual types of pavement systems. This chapter provides insights and best practices to assist in the successful use of permeable pavement for stormwater management.
