Abstract:

This fifth article in the Business of Geotechnics series addresses personnel matters in private-sector engineering and consulting (E&C) firms. I'll be discussing the typical career path for consulting geoengineers, staff leverage ratios, the attributes needed to become a geoengineering firm leader, the choices available to personnel in terms of professional practice and company management career tracks, and the importance of leadership succession.
