Abstract:
Exploitation of metabolic activities of algae in removing phosphorus from treated sewage; tertiary stage treatment process designed to strip phosphorus from solution through use of algal photosynthesis was developed in laboratory; process was subsequently studied in both laboratory and field scale pilot plants; basic principles of process outlined.
