Abstract:

This report was prepared as part of the HITEC evaluation for earth retaining systems. This evaluation was performed on STONE STRONG gravity walls, a precast modular wall developed, designed, and supplied by STONE STRONG systems. The report described a HITEC evaluation designed to determine the basic capabilities and limitation of systems for use as a technically viable precast concrete modular block retaining wall system. The evaluation was conducted based on design, construction, performance, and quality assurance information outlined in the HITEC protocol for precast concrete modular gravity walls. STONE STRONG gravity walls are constructed by erecting modular precast concrete units and filling the units with free-draining stone. STONE STRONG facing patterns are created with a molded liner. The standard facing texture is a chiseled granite pattern, with four pattern variations. The block units may be stained in-place to achieve a variety of colors.
