Emerging Applications of Water Valuation

by Edward F. Harvey, Browne, Bortz & Coddington Inc, Denver, CO, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Infrastructure and Marketing in Water Resources

Abstract:

This paper identifies the emerging importance of the water value concept through a number of applications. These emerging applications include natural resource damage assessment, water service investment decisionmaking, development of water supply strategies and resource allocation policy. The ascendance of the water value concept among water suppliers, water users, and those involved with related natural resources will result in a clearer distinction of water value versus cost or price. Even so, a uniform definition or estimation technique will present difficulties for practitioners and decisionmakers.
