Abstract:

An innovative project delivery system for structural steel buildings enables the structural engineer to provide complete structural design services on conventional contractor-led design/build teams. It also enables the structural engineer-under a separate contract with the general contractor-to provide steel shop drawings, fabrication, and erection of structural steel. (This article is based on a paper published in the proceedings of Structures 2004-Building on the Past: Securing the Future, a conference sponsored by ASCE and held in Nashville, Tennessee, May 22-24.)
