Abstract:

Proceedings of the Symposium on Underground Rock Chambers held during the ASCE National Meeting on Water Resources Engineering held in Phoenix, Arizona, January 13-14, 1971. Sponsored by the Construction Division of ASCE, the Soil Mechanics and Foundations Division of ASCE, and the U.S. Committee on Large Dams. Underground Rock Chambers contains many papers covering a broad range of relevant issues in research on underground rock chambers. Topics include design of rock caverns for hydraulics projects, geomechanical instrumentation, rock tunnels to control pollution and flooding, rock mechanics studies, and predicted and measured displacements for tunnels. These proceedings will be of interest to both practitioners and researchers in the field of water resources engineering.
