Abstract:

This purpose of Subsurface Investigation for Design and Construction of Foundations of Buildings is to set forth the reasoning that guides exploration of foundation conditions for ordinary buildings, and to describe procedures and methods commonly used. For clarity in presentation, it is divided into four parts. Part One provides an introduction to the subject, defines general terms, and discusses the scope of investigation; Part Two examines procedures and tests for foundation investigations; Part Three discusses presentation of data; Part Four discusses investigations and studies associated with construction phase.
