Abstract:

Tunneling in areas that are densely populated and highly developed is never easy, but an addition to Singapore's Mass Rapid Transit system was needed to serve those in the northeastern part of the island. Varying ground conditions along the route didn't help matters, but the result - the country's first fully automated mass transit line - is expected to do wonders in keeping the economy rolling.
