Abstract:

This Manual of Engineering Practice in Structural Analysis and Design of Nuclear Plant Facilities is a project of the Nuclear Structures and Materials Committee of the Structural Division of the American Society of Civil Engineers. This manual is written for the use of the engineering profession as a guide in the structural design of structures important to public safety, which, in addition to normal dead and live service loads, are intended to resist the consequences of postulated accidents and extreme load environmental effects on commercial nuclear facilities. In general, the procedures described in the manual are applicable to large commercial or central station nuclear power plants but may also be applied to any facility where the consequences or risk associated with postulated accidents or extreme environmental effects require protection and evaluation of events.
