Abstract:

The report is concerned primarily with evaluating types and properties of soils in the West and North sections of the city and county of St. Louis, field testing and evaluation of the mechanical (hand) tamper and mobile trench compactor compaction equipment, evaluation of the jetting method of compacting cohesive soils, and the presentation of recommended field practices for improving existing compaction procedures of cohesive backfills in public rights-of-way.
