Abstract: Horizontal Control Surveys to Supplement the Fundamental Net is designed to introduce the method of expanding the fundamental net to persons not familiar with geographic surveying. It covers all the operations and information thought necessary for the successful completion of this purpose, partly by text but chiefly through references. Nevertheless, the text covers the usual field operations and it should provide a complete handbook for establishing traverse. This manual should serve as a complete handbook for all field operations required, as the references have been reduced to a minimum. Topics this manual covers include general considerations, the national control net, supplemental triangulation, traverse, computations, and the bureau of surveying and mapping.
