The buckling of a uniform slender column is considered when the initial deflection shape of the column is an ensemble member of a nonstationary process. The result of this is that the deformation of the column is also a nonstationary random process. The mean square deflection shape is calculated for a particular form of initial deflection autocorrelation function as a function of axial load. The probability of the column midpoint deflection exceeding a number of different values is also calculated and presented.
