Abstract:

The Museum of Glass under construction in Tacoma, Washington, is the centerpiece of a plan to develop brownfield sites on the Thea Foss Waterway. The $57.3-million museum project includes a 90 ft (27 m) high cone structure that will contain a working glass art studio. In cooperation with the museum, the city of Tacoma is building a pedestrian bridge that will link the historic downtown area to the museum and waterfront property. The city also is building a parking garage beneath the museum, all of which will be complete by July 2002.
