Abstract:

Whether or not it is ethical for a consulting firm to contribute money to a political campaign or cause depends on the motive. If the purpose is to curry favor with a candidate and gain personal or commercial benefits, such contributions are unethical. If a candidate takes a stand on a particular issue relevant to the firm's business, such as bidding restrictions or safety requirements, then it may be ethical to contribute money.
