Abstract:

This proceedings, Optimizing Post-Earthquake Lifeline System Reliability, contains over 100 papers presented at the 1999 National Conference of the 5th United States Conference on Lifeline Earthquake Engineering (5 USCLEE). The conference was sponsored by the Technical Council on Lifeline Earthquake Engineering of the American Society of Civil Engineers and was held in Seattle, Washington, August 12-14, 1999. The conference is a continuation of the Lifeline Series that have been held at three-to-four-year intervals. This proceedings covers a broad range of topics including: 1) transportation systems; 2) seismic hazards; 3) pipelines; 4) transportation projects; 5) seismic risk analysis; 6) water and wastewater; 7) case studies; 8) port issues; 9) social and economic issues; 10) electric power; 11) issues in implementation and investigation; and 12) multi-hazard risk assessment.
