Abstract:

With the increasing interest in the design-build project deliver system, the decision of who should be responsible for quality assurance/quality control has become a complex one. To assist owners in this decision, ASCE's Construction Division Inspection Committee developed the monograph, Who Provides Inspection. The monograph is concerned with the advantages and disadvantages of methods used to perform and administer various quality assurance/quality control programs for different types of construction. Each of the papers deals with a different segment of the construction industry: heavy civil (dams and waterways), transportation, water and wastewater, commercial buildings, residential buildings, and waste management.
