Abstract:

Both the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC), of Laurel, Maryland, and the Providence Water Supply Board, of Rhode Island, are conducting massive, multimillion-dollar rehabilitation projects of water mains made from prestressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP). The WSSC decided to line virtually its entire pipeline with steel. Providence Water is repairing its worst pipe sections with a new repair method: carbon fiber lining.
