Abstract:

In Irsee, Germany an international conference on composite construction was held from June 9-14, 1996. It provided a forum for researchers and practitioners involved with composite construction to discuss research findings, new applications, and building code improvements in this fast developing field. All phases of design, construction and research related to steel-concrete composite and mixed systems were discussed. This proceedings contains approximately 80% of the conference presentations. The sessions were organized according to five themes: 1) History, 2) Research, 3) Codes, 4) Case Histories, and 5) Design. The range and timeliness of the papers should make the proceedings interesting to both practicing and research structural engineers.
