Abstract: This proceedings, Ground Improvement, Ground Reinforcement and Ground Treatment: Developments 1987-1997, contains the committee report of the ASCE Soil Improvement and Geosynthetics (SIG) committee and 15 contributed papers presented at ASCE Geo-Logan 97, The First National Conference of the ASCE Geo-Institute, held July 16-19, 1997 at Utah State University, Logan, Utah. The committee report covers the developments in soil improvement, reinforcement and treatment for the period since 1987. The report was prepared by members of the SIG committee and other interested professionals, with a balance between contractors, engineers and professors. The committee report is a state of the practice manual, with bountiful reference lists. The contributed papers represent case histories across the three themes, with an emphasis on stone columns and dynamic compaction, two techniques in high usage today.
