Abstract:

This proceedings, Computing in Civil Engineering, consists of papers presented at the Fourth Congress held in conjunction with A/E/C/ SYSTEMS '97 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, June 16-18 1997. With the theme of Bridging Theory to Practice, the conference agenda was organized into seven symposia: 1) Artificial intelligence and expert systems; 2) construction engineering; 3) transportation engineering; 4) structural engineering; 5) environmental engineering; 6) engineering education; and 7) engineering practice. Within these seven areas, presentations explore the use of information and computer technology to enhance the engineering activities.
