Abstract:

Heavy groundwater production in the area of coastal Orange County accounts for large seasonal fluctuations in water levels that can cause groundwater gradients to reverse seasonally. The Talbert Seawater Intrusion Barrier is operated by targeting injection into the aquifers most influenced by groundwater production in an effort to balance the seasonally-reversing groundwater gradients induced by pumping.
