Abstract:

Better Assessment Science Integrating Point and Nonpoint Sources (BASINS) is a GIS based tool developed by EPA's Office of Water to help States target and evaluate water bodies that are not meeting water quality standards. BASINS brings together data on water quality and quantity, land uses, point and nonpoint source loadings, with supporting nonpoint and water quality models, allowing a comprehensive assessment to be performed on any watershed in the continental U.S.
