Abstract:

A civil engineer is trained academically and professionally to meet the challenges and solve the problems of ever expanding world populations. With an increased demand for civil engineers to address environmentally oriented issues, locating appropriate design resources for these newer problems may be difficult at times. With the rise of specialized environmental fields such as erosion control, civil engineers are being called upon more and more to solve problems for which they may have limited training or education.
