Abstract:
Appropriate technology and sustainable development are inextricably interrelated and the engineering profession is increasingly realizing that greater care must be given to taking these factors into consideration in engineering planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance. Because these are relatively new concepts with which engineers are generally not acquainted, there is need for educational and research programs to be conducted for the use of engineers.
