Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to very briefly highlight some physical and design concepts important to management of salinity and drainage in irrigated regions in an environmentally sensitive manner. The intent of this discussion is to draw attention to the need for an integrated approach to management problems at the farm and regional scales and possible redefinition of some engineering design concepts associated with irrigation-drainage systems.
