Abstract:

A fluvial study was made for potential stream channel changes induced by a reservoir. It is generally recognized that a reservoir induces sediment deposition along the upstream channel and it induces erosion along the downstream channel. However, such changes are usually complicated because erosion and deposition of the channel bed are accompanied by changes in channel morphology. The morphological changes are simulated and explained by the river's tendency to attain equilibrium in the presence of the reservoir.
