Abstract:

Uzbekistan is referred to as the region where the most dangerous natural phenomena are: mudfloods, floods, and avalanches. During the last decades the areas of their manifestation were extended due to the increase of technogenic load on the natural environment, land use in the mountainous and piedmont areas, river flood bed, and rapid growth of population. For more than 30 years, Glavgidromet of the Republic of Uzbeki stan has carried out regular monitoring of the mudflood and avalanche-prone areas and of the alpine flush-prone lakes.
