Abstract:

The objective of the Flood Control Channels Research Program, currently being conducted at the US Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station, is to develop design guidance and systematic methods for design of multi-purpose flood control channels. The technology is intended to be used primarily in the early planning phases of projects where numerous alternatives are evaluated. The methodology focuses on evaluation of channel stability and quantifying the effects of aquatic and terrestrial habitat features.
