Abstract:

A long-term flood control and maintenance plan for the Mojave River, located in southern California, is currently being developed to satisfy permit requirements for state and federal regulatory agencies. The plan will provide for flood control and preservation of the Mojave River's significant environmental resources. The study utilizes GIS technology for both floodplain delineation and for habitat mapping. The emphasis of this paper is a discussion of our experiences with the GIS-based floodplain delineation analysis.
