Abstract:

Vertical expansion of six (6) new floors of parking garage on top of four (4) floors of existing structure that was built over three decades ago, adding 155,000 square foot of new structure. This project required many innovative solutions to difficult problems of load carrying capacity, structural layout and integrity of existing structure. The new structure more than doubled in square footage of existing and available parking spaces. Composite structural steel beams and girders were used in new structure, although the old structure was cast in place concrete and precast single tees.
