Abstract:

This proceedings, Equipment Resource Management contains technical papers, reports, and discussions presented at the Specialty Conference on Equipment Resource Management into the 21st Century held in Nashville, Tennessee, November 13-15, 1994. The conference was sponsored by the Committee on Construction Equipment and Techniques of the Construction Division of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Associated General Contractors of America, and the Equipment Maintenance Council. The purpose of the Conference was to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and information that would be beneficial to operations and maintenance personnel as well as to management in planning and using heavy construction equipment. To this end papers were presented on the following topics: 1) crane safety and operator certification; 2) fleet management (data and software development); 3) equipment manager training and development; 4) pollution prevention; 5) predictive maintenance; 6) buying and selling equipment; 7) finance and tax impacts of fleet management; 8) life-cycle costing; 9) equipment rate development; and 10) partnering of equipment manufacturers and users.
