Abstract:

This edition of MOP 50 has been superseded by a new edition.

Prepared by the Task Committee on Marinas 2000 of ASCE.

Planning and Design Guidelines for Small Craft Harbors provides state-of-the-art guidelines for the planning, design, construction, and financing of small craft harbors. This Manual, a thorough revision of the 1969 edition, reflects the dramatic transformation of marine development in the past 25 years. Much that has been learned about the technical aspects of planning and designing small boat harbors is presented in this volume. Topics include: planning and related environmental considerations, along with an analytical planning process; the protection of small craft mooring facilities and access areas; improved design of inner harbor structures; and the economics and finance of small boat harbors.

This revised Manual is a valuable reference for practicing civil engineers because it presents the factors involved in harbor development and provides the basic background information needed as design input.
