Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Fundamentals and Advancements in Hydraulic Measurements and Experimentation

Abstract:

Discussing the relevant hydraulical and inter-phasial processes of two-phase flow in open tanks the necessary requirements for set-up and operation of physical model studies are worked out. Comparative investigations enable to identify the influence of the overflow rate, the Froude number and the detention time in prototype and model. Measurement techniques which are applicable under field and laboratory conditions are presented and applied to detailed studies of the internal flow patterns as well as for describing the overall performance of two-phase flow in hydraulic structures.
