Abstract:

To establish a consistent methodology for evaluating secondary clarifier performance, the ASCE Clarifier Research Technical Committee prepared procedural guidelines in the form of a draft protocol. This protocol was evaluated in a field study during which four clarifier configurations at three full-scale activated sludge facilities were tested. Based on the experience gained in this study, the protocol was revised. An overview of the revised protocol is presented.
