Abstract:

In this study, a numerical model of a circular clarifier was applied to reveal the effects of the water depth on the hydraulic and removal efficiency. The velocity and solids concentration fields at different time steps during tank operation were predicted. The model accounts for a number of practical conditions including sludge storage, density variations, settling characteristics, turbulence, ratio of return activated sludge (RAS) withdraw and tank geometry variations at full scale.
