Abstract:

This paper presents the experimental and finite element method (FEM) of analyses performed to model the use of soil reinforcement for rehabilitation of gantry crane track foundations. Since gantry crane tracks are subjected to eccentric and inclined loads, the analyses were performed for these loading cases. The results of the analyses predicted that soil reinforcement would reduce vertical, horizontal and rotational settlements caused by this type of loading. The percentage of reduction in settlement increased as the load eccentricity and inclination increased.
