Abstract:

This paper discusses the development of a multimedia intelligent educational prototype system for bridge engineering called BRICAL. BRICAL uses information networks to express the relationships among the knowledge. Text, images, video, graphics, and an FEM analysis program are used to represent the information related to bridge types, bridge design, analysis, and construction. The system is developed on a SUN workstation with Common LISP and its object-oriented extension CLOS.
