Abstract:

Structural engineering tasks can be broken down into three major phases; analysis, design and construction document production. Although automation techniques have focused on these phases separately, solutions that link data between these phases have been less than elegant. Construction documents are the final product of any analysis and design effort, and are considered to be the most important documents for building purposes. The automatic creation of construction documents from 3-D computer models used for analysis and design purposes increases the efficiency and accuracy across all phases of the structural engineering process.
