Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Computing in Civil Engineering

Abstract:

A methodology for developing a finite-element program with a variety of applications within civil engineering is presented. Application include simple structural analysis, groundwater flow, heat transfer, and contaminant transport. The cornerstone of the method is the usage of C+PLU language classes, which are program objects which are created in a hierarchical fashion to meet program development needs. The resulting program has a Windows graphical use interface, allowing the user to navigate freely through various program options.
