Abstract:

To develop intelligent tutoring systems (ITS) for engineering via computer technology, a model of how engineers learn as well as methods in which instruction should occur must be captured and represented. Therefore, an instructor component of an ITS needs to insure that students are presented with instructional material in meaningful and appropriate ways. This paper describes a model for an adaptive teaching paradigm to provide engineering instruction that is based on cognitive principles.
