Analysis of Port Allen Lock in Elastic-Plastic Soil Medium

Incremental finite element analyses using Drucker-Prager plasticity model are applied to study the interaction of Port Allen Lock with its surrounding soil. The analyses not only consider nonlinear soil behavior but also simulate actual construction sequences of the Lock. Analytical results for excavation rebounds, structural settlements and deflections are presented and compared with field measurements and published analytical results.
