Abstract:

Worldwide competition has finally impacted the construction industry and facility managers. As manufacturers become more competitive, the cost of doing business becomes more critical. One of the major costs is facility maintenance. To assist facility managers in reducing the cost of maintenance, this paper introduces a model using the management of information to procure facility systems. A `fuzzy logic' model is used to quantify relative `amounts of information' to identify the `best performing' alternative system. The model is run on a PC based `Windows' program.
