Building envelope failures account for a great portion of building failures. The number of envelope deficiencies would be reduced if the design process was integrated. Integration would improve communication among participants and minimize the fragmentation in the building envelope design process. This paper presents the first mandatory steps in creating an object-oriented database to support integrated building envelope design: the functional analysis.
