Abstract:

Wastewater return flows of raw water which is reusable, i.e., water which is entirely consumable, can be exchanged for a like amount of water upstream in the river basin. Exchanged water can be a significant percentage of a municipality's raw water supply. This paper briefly describes the use of reusable waters by exchange as part of the raw water supply of the City of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
