Abstract:

A salt balance is incorporated into an object-oriented river-basin model and applied to the Colorado River. The model simulates seasonal variations in the basin's water balance and employs constant salt loadings. Preliminary results indicate that the model adequately simulates average concentrations in the system's reservoirs. The simulations also indicate that seasonal flow cycles with constant salt loadings are sufficient to approximate observed seasonal salt concentration variations.
