Arizona Groundwater Management Alternatives

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Water Policy and Management: Solving the Problems

Abstract:

Sustainable groundwater management policies are examined through the use of a hydrologic-economic impact model of Arizona surface and groundwater use. Present water use practices were found to result in continued groundwater depletion and pumping cost increases, while policies which impose full energy cost pricing on water users significantly reduce future groundwater depletion.
