Abstract:

The Chungju Reservoir is a component of the Han River System in Korea. Chungju Reservoir consists of a main reservoir and a downstream smaller reservoir that serves as an after bay. It is managed by the Korea Water Resources Corporation. A PC based decision support system (DSS) for operational reassessment of Chungju Reservoir was developed by the Center for Water Resources and Quality Management in Korea. The DSS contains a FORTRAN simulation model and dynamic programming optimization model, historical and stochastic inflow databases, QUATTRO PRO spreadsheet files for input development and output display and an overall controlling shell program written in QuickBasic. Historical operation patterns are available for comparison purposes. The system is completely menu driven and can be run on a 386 class, notebook computer. A scenario can be designed and evaluated with a matter of minutes.
